The classic Deep Purple quintet featuring the talents of Ian Gillan, Ian Paice, Roger Glover, Steve Morse and Don Airey are one of the world’s leading heavy metal acts thumping out favourites like Hush, Speed King, Child In Time and the seminal riff-heavy Smoke On The Water. Peter Frampton picked up his first guitar at the age of eight and turned professional at sixteen. His first group to taste success was The Herd and in 1969 he teamed up with ex-Small Faces star Steve Marriott to form Humble Pie. In 1971 he went solo, initially concentrating on session work before recording the monster-selling Frampton Comes Alive, the double album that made him and his vocoder hugely famous and that held the Number One sales slot for 17 weeks. It is also still the best selling live album of all times with sales in excess of 17 million copies. Thunder quickly developed a reputation as an honest band with honest songs, uncomplicated lyrics, and a truly British feel, charging into territory previously conquered by the likes of Led Zeppelin. With raw guitars and soaring vocals, Thunder recorded some classic tracks, Backstreet Symphony, Love Walked In and the rabble rousing Dirty Love and deserve the respect that they enjoy on the British rock scene.
