Age: 15+ Fringe Best Actor Award Winner 2003 Richard Dormer unleashes a whirlwind of invention - and will blow you away with his exhilarating portrayal of Alex Higgins, the Northern Irish snooker hero who twice won the world championships, and who might have been one of the green baize table's all-time greats if he had only kept his temper and taste for booze and women under better control. Like George Best, Higgins was one of our most charismatic sporting heroes and though blessed with awe-inspiring talents, we are shown a working-class man struggling to exploit a gift. Even if you know next to nothing about snooker you will be mesmerised by the sheer energy of this truly electrifying one-man show. Hurricane won the BBC's Award for New Writing for its author and performer Richard Dormer. 'An absolutely gripping, emotive piece of theatre.' Edinburgh Evening News 'Richard Dormer blows away his audience with this terrific solo show.' The Times 'A hell-raising performance.' The Guardian The Hurricane Website 14.50 (12.50)
