Grand Summer Concert with Fireworks The world famous City of Birmingham Orchestra returns for a seventh appearance at the Castle's annual Grand Summer Concert - the leading event of its kind in the Midlands. Special Guests at the concert this year are the Saint Michaels Singers, Coventry Cathedral, who will bring a soaring vocal dimension to this magical evening of music. This year's concert has a stirring Russian theme including Glinka's 'Overture Ruslan and Ludmila', Prokoviev's 'Romeo and Juliet' and Borodin's 'Polotsvian Dances'. The evening will close to the rip-roaring '1812 Overture', performed to breath-taking fireworks and lighting effects. Gates open at 6.30pm and the concert starts at 8.15pm. The concert is located within the Castle grounds on the Pageant Field. Picknicking is welcomed, refreshments are available. Individual barbecues, gazebos and other tent-like structures are not permitted. Seating is not provided, please bring your own.
