Grand Summer Concert with Fireworks An evening of dramatic and varied music with spectacular fireworks awaits you at this, the Midlands leading outdoor classical music and fireworks concert. The world famous City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra return to the Castle, for the fourth year running, under the guidance of John Wilson. This year's programme features a variety of composers with every piece carefully chosen for its drama, including music synonymous with the circus and instantly recognisable pieces used on both big and small screen. The programme includes 'The Hebrides Overture (Fingal's Cave)' by Mendelssohn, Dvorak's 'New World Symphony' and Rossini's 'William Tell Overture'. The evening concludes with Saint Saens' last movement of Symphony No. 3, performed using a large pipe organ brought in especially for the piece, with accompaniment from stunning fireworks and amazing lighting. Gates open at 6.30pm and the concert starts at 8.15pm. The concert is located within the Castle grounds on the Pageant Field. Picknicking is welcomed, refreshments are available. Individual barbecues, gazebos and other tent-like structures are not permitted. Seating is not provided, please bring your own. Firework display contains sudden and very load bangs which may not be suitable for very young children.
