This is THE re-enactment event of the year. See web sites and example pictures below. The largest festival of history and re-enactment in the world returns. Kirby Hall (an English Heritage property) plays host to over 3000 performers, from the best historical display groups in Europe. Enjoy the very best of historical re-enactment, living history and historic shows - all in one place and all for one weekend only. From 10.00am (doors open 09.30) major arena displays will depict warfare through the ages, beginning with the Army of the Caesars and ending with the struggle for Europe during the Second World War. Other highlights include medieval jousting, major English Civil War, Napoleonic and American Civil War displays, plus aerial activities including a World War 1 dogfight, and spectacular Spitfire flypast. Alternatively take a break from the explosive arena action to enjoy period life and social history in the huge and fascinating living history arenas, which include: Craft and skills, Period food and cooking, Special have-a-go activities for children Talks and book signings by well known authors, Museum displays and exhibitions, Comedy and drama, Music and Dance, Historic vehicles and fascinating traders market. On a personal level I have been to this event for the last two years and it is an AMAZING day out, for adults and children alike.
